Amy Lee Solomon's paintings have been exhibited in solo and group exhibitions in galleries and museums throughout the United States, including the Boulder Museum of Contemporary Art in Boulder, Colorado; the Fountainhead Gallery in Houston, Texas; the Monteverde Gallery in Taos, New Mexico and numerous galleries locally in Denver, Colorado.In addition, her work is in public and Corporate collections including those of American Airlines, the Four Season's Restaurant in Las Vegas, Nevada and the Denver Social Services Building.

 

Ms. Solomon is the recipient of awards and honors. She received a fellowship from Art in Public Places as well as direct purchases from the "1% for the Arts".Powerful passionate physical energy is always unmistakable in Solomon's work.

 

She is identified with Expressionism whether in her Abstract or Socio-Political Figurative work. She uses a variety of different materials whose inherent physical properties are utilized to generate significant form. Voluptuousness, Sensuality, and vigorousness are all terms that have been used to describe the work. However, there are always strong structural elements that operate as a control for the visual forces. In all of the work there is a profound balance between improvisation and structure.Known also for her rich, sumptuous colors, forms that are amorphous yet bold and strong brushstrokes with buoyant rhythms.

 

She was born in New York, New York in 1955. She received a B.S. Envd (Architecture) from the University of Colorado in Boulder Colorado. Thirty years ago she left architecture to work full time as an artist. She lives and works in Berkeley, Ca.
